When I decide to buy something, it has to be a stand-out piece

There are two sides to Selena’s wardrobe; there are dungarees, vintage shirts and jumpsuits that are quick, comfortable and practical with a breastfeeding toddler and then there are sweeping 1970s maxi dresses with draped sleeves and elegant necklines. Regardless of the type of garment though, Selena always shops with the same ethos in mind: “Usually when I decide to buy something, it has to be a stand-out piece. I look for quality and usually choose natural fibres like cotton, linen or silk. I often choose pieces that I know I’ll love for years to come and don’t shop via latest trends.” For example, her favourite dress was only £10 from a charity shop, but the colour, cut, print and sleeves meant she couldn’t leave it behind. “I just feel so confident when I’m wearing it” she says. Her Magpie eye for a good piece has made her own Vintage store, Selena’s Shop very successful too. Photography by Georgina Martin.
